Akron Bar Foundation announces grant and scholarship awards

AKRON––The Akron Bar Association Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2016 community grants and law student scholarships.

As the charitable arm of the Akron Bar Association, the Foundation strives to improve the quality of justice and improve the image of lawyers through the support of law-related and public service programs primarily directed to the Akron Metro­politan area.

2016 Grant Recipients:

· Peace of Mind Program (Akron Municipal Court Probation Department)                    

· Justice System Advocacy for Domestic Violence Victims (Battered Women's Shelter)            

· Project R.A.I.S.E [Reach, Aware, Incentives Solutions, & Expectancy] (Bondage Breakers)   

· Guardian ad Litem Continuing Education (CASA)   

· 2016 Summer Intern Program  (Community Legal Aid Services, Inc.)                            

· Building Career Pathways for Ex-offenders  (Heart to Heart Family Support Center)               

· LLI Akron 2016 Summer Institute & Academic Year  (Law and Leadership Institute, LLC)                      

· SCRN Mentor Program  (Summit County Reentry Network)                            

· Community Service Worker Program  (The Salvation Army Summit County Area Services)    

· Domestic Relations Court Victim Advocacy Program  (Victim Assistance Program)                 

The Foundation also awarded $37,000 in scholarships to eight area law school students.
